Virus writer purports to show bin Laden's death - News - ZDNet: "Antivirus company Sophos warned Friday of a scheme that invokes Osama bin Laden to convince people to open a file containing a Trojan horse called Hackarmy.
The message, which has been posted on several Internet newsgroups, claims to contain pictures taken by CNN journalists of bin Laden committing suicide. But once the supposed picture file is opened, it installs a Trojan horse that effectively recruits the infected machine into the author's army of 'zombie' PCs--already-infected machines that can be controlled surreptitiously from afar. The zombified computers can then be used to distribute spam or launch denial-of-service attacks. "

PCWorld.com - Who Knew Your...PC, Software, Camera, Printer, Network, Drive, Handheld...Could Do That?: "FolderShare--a free, secure peer-to-peer file-sharing program--is so convenient that I use it almost daily. Here's how it works: Start by inviting one or more people to share a specific library. The invitation asks them to download a small application that will let them 'connect' to the library. They then associate a folder on their computer with the library and download any of the library's files to their local machine via drag-and-drop in Windows Explorer. The free version of FolderShare allows you to queue up to three files for download. You can work with as many as 100 libraries, each of which may hold up to 3000 files (the maximum size of any single file is 2GB). For $4.50 per month, you gain the ability to automatically sync files. FolderShare is an ideal way to bypass e-mail and FTP servers when you want to share big files. "
PCWorld.com - Home Office: Move Big Files Without Breaking a Sweat: "We've been sending files to each other via e-mail for so long, it's become second nature. That's fine for files that can fit on a floppy, but what about those mondo 5MB PowerPoint presentations, or humongous 40MB video files? I've come up with five nifty ways--most free, and the rest dirt cheap--to give these files wings. "

Damaging reports finger CIA and MI6The imminent release of two highly critical reports on US and British prewar intelligence leading up to the Iraq war draw conclusions that will have "Spy chiefs facing accusations of 'worldwide intelligence failures' over the case for war in Iraq," reports the online news site ThisisLondon.

"The findings are the most damaging attack yet on the intelligence used to justify the war and will be a blow for President George Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair."

"These conclusions literally beg for changes in the intelligence community," ThisisLondon quotes US Senator Pat Roberts, the Republican chair of the US Senate intelligence committee. "What we had was a worldwide intelligence failure," says Roberts.

BBC NEWS | World | Americas | Moore film fires up America: "reinvigorate their passion " Fahrenheit 9/11 has occasioned a robust political debate. It is a piece of agitprop which its supporters hope will translate into a definitive defeat for President Bush in November.

But could it really have an impact?

"It will have a political effect," says Henry Sheinkopf, a veteran campaign strategist who advised Democratic political campaigns including the Clinton-Gore run in 1996.
...
And given the massive amount of hype the film has received, not to mention the record box-office take, it does seem possible that a film on this scale might reach undecided voters.
